107TH ANNUAL AWARDS & INSTALLATION BANQUET

ENTERTAINMENT - CRESCENT SUPER BAND

Organized in 2001 under the direction of Caleb Chapman, the award-winning Crescent Super Band has been voted “Best on Planet” by DownBeat magazine, and is frequently hailed as the best high school aged jazz band in the world. Since the band’s inception, CSB has shared the stage with Grammy-winners Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Jeff Coffin, Dave Samuels, Eric Marienthal, Ernie Watts, and well over 100 other guest artists.

The band has been featured at many prestigious jazz venues, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Park City Jazz Festival, and the Crescent Jazz Festival, as well as the famous NY jazz club Dizzy’s. They have performed across Europe including Sweden, Denmark, and The Netherlands. The band was featured on the main stage of the 34th Annual Conference of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) in New York, an honor normally reserved for the biggest names in jazz.

Caleb Chapman’s music program is affiliated with the famed Juilliard School of Music, and members of the Crescent Super Band have been awarded scholarships. In May of 2013, Crescent Super Band will perform at Carnegie Hall, one of the world’s most prestigious venues.

Though the quality of their performance justifies their accolades, perhaps the most outstanding aspect of this band is that each member is more than a musician. He or she is a student body officer, star athlete, outstanding scholar, actor, and/or dedicated community service volunteer. The future looks (and sounds!) bright when youth of this caliber take the stage.

UTAH MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION

“MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR” – 2012

INVITATION TO APPLY

Again, as has become tradition, at our Annual Banquet in November we will recognize an outstanding manufacturer, with a small twist. Recognizing that companies of different sizes face different challenges in their manufacturing processes, awards will be presented to “Manufacturers of the Year” for several different categories according to number of employees. The ranges of company sizes and categories are as follows: 1 to 50 Employees, 51 to 200 Employees, 201 and up. We anticipate this format will afford more opportunity for additional companies to compete with like-sized companies within the manufacturing industry.

Award Criteria

The criteria for awarding this newly revised award include outstanding performance in the following areas:

· Operational Performance and Best Practices

· Economic Achievement

· Workplace Safety

· Community and State Involvement and Outreach

· Fidelity to the Principles of Free Enterprise

Consideration points will be awarded by the UMA selection committee in each of the foregoing categories.

 Selection Process

Awards are presented at the annual UMA Banquet in November to outstanding manufacturing companies in Utah.

Nominations for the award can be submitted from any person or group. (Nominate Companies you do business with).

Each nomination should include information deemed pertinent to qualify the company for the award.

All nominations must be submitted to the UMA office prior to October 1st.

A committee of UMA members makes the selection of qualified companies. The committee members are appointed by the UMA Chairman and confirmed by the UMA Executive Committee. The committee membership remains anonymous. The announcement will not be made public until the November Banquet. An executive of the companies being honored must be present at the Banquet to accept the awards.

The UMA Banquet is the highlight event of the year for UMA members and their guests, especially since each couple receives UMA’s traditional "Utah Products Box."
